Star "Getting Out" of City, Visits Olney, MD

After a busy weekend entertaining guests at her DC home, Kay Taylor and her mother/co-agent decided to venture out of the city yesterday to spend an afternoon in Olney, Maryland. Although the Bean Patch had assumed her trip was, in part, to expand her fan base further into the DC suburbs, it would appear from photos of the young star that she spent most of her time relaxing at her grandparents' house in the Olney Mill neighborhood.

Kay Taylor's mother/co-agent played down the trip after briefly stopping to talk to reporters. She described it as "just an opportunity to get out of the house" and nothing more. One industry observer: "Are we really supposed to think a star of Kay Taylor's magnitude is just 'taking it easy' on a Tuesday afternoon? No way. That girl's one smart cookie and I'm sure she's up to something."

Kay Taylor Entertains Local Fans, Has Potential Interview

Kay Taylor began a series of dialogues with local fans this past week as she began to cement her position as one of DC's newest and brightest celebrities. Last Wednesday, she met with two friends and co-workers of her mother/co-agent from e-learning company Blackboard. Both Laura and Erin declared the young headliner was definitely "Blackboard material." Rumors surfaced shortly after the encounter that perhaps the meeting was actually the start of a long interview process to lure Kay Taylor into the Blackboard family, but the Bean Patch could not confirm any such information.

On Friday, Kay Taylor enjoyed her first introduction to her cousin Dotty. While the young headliner was excited at the chance to meet Dotty, several reports were leaked that she spent much of the afternoon get-together asleep in Dotty's arms. The weekend ended with a final group of visitors, FOKTs Josie and Bob, who not only enjoyed their first meeting and a brief photo op with DC's newest starlet, but also brought two tasty gifts -- a homemade chocolate chip pumpkin bread and some mouth-watering chicken and black bean enchiladas. Although it's unclear whether Kay Taylor herself sampled the culinary delicacies, her press department released a statement pronouncing both delicious and thanking Josie and Bob for their generosity.

Kay Taylor Meets New Canine Ambassador

Kay Taylor spent the past weekend preparing for the Christmas holiday, while her co-agents continued to hone their skills for successfully developing this young star's career. On Saturday, her father/co-agent spent the morning taking an introductory infant CPR class while Kay Taylor and her mother/co-agent entertained FOKT Kerry Jo back at her DC home.

On Sunday morning, both Kay Taylor and her co-agents met with their Chief Canine Ambassador for the first time. Although the Bean Patch has been unable to obtain pictures of the actual encounter, we have secured the following file photo of Ambassador Hobo, who is called Bo by his friends and associates and lives with Kay Taylor's paternal grandparents. Ambassador Bo remarked that Kay Taylor smelled good and seemed soft and cuddly. He said he looked forward to her being "a bit bigger" so he could introduce her to "other canine diplomats" in the future.

After the positive meeting, Kay Taylor and her parents/co-agents headed out to purchase a Christmas tree for the holidays. Although there was no video of the event, it's reported that Kay Taylor forcefully expressed her desire to return home while in the parking lot of the nursery, and she and her mother/co-agent left before the tree was actually purchased. Her father/co-agent finalized the deal, however, and Kay Taylor pronounced the tree to be a satisfactory purchase in her absence.

Career Coach Indicates "She's Looking Good"

Kay Taylor again met with her career coach, Dr. Van Vleck, this morning. The evaluation was unambiguously positive with Van Vleck saying the young star looked good, was putting on weight nicely and seemed attentive and engaging -- all important components for any young celebrity. "Of course she's attentive and engaging; that's why she's a star!" one fan reacted to the news. "You don't need an advanced degree to know this girl's something special."

After the appointment Kay Taylor and her co-agents returned home where the young headliner spent the late morning planning her next career move. In a photo exclusively released to the Bean Patch, one can see the young star is deep in thought even when she appears to be asleep. One insider: "Ah, if we could only know the inspired thoughts swirling in that young mind."

Kay Taylor Talks Strategy, Also Takes Break

Although busy working on laying the foundation of her new career, Kay Taylor spent the last few days entertaining her Grandma Snee over at her new DC home. It is unclear what was discussed during their time together, but many suspect career strategy was brought up during the visit. It has also been reported that, at the conclusion of their meetings, Kay Taylor spent a good portion of the time napping along with her mother and co-agent.

One industry observer: "To have her grandparents so close is definitely an asset. As a career gets off the ground, it can be exhausting and stressful on a star and her agents. What a great luxury to have a trusted partner close by to let our young star take a little nap and give her agents a bit of a break."

Press Secretary Candidates Interviewed

Kay Taylor spent her Saturday morning conducting preliminary interviews for a press secretary to handle most of her new publicity. In an informal interview, she met with FOKT ("Friend of Kay Taylor") Michael who presently handles press duties for Congressman McGovern. Perhaps in an effort to sway the interview, Michael brought a homemade Feijoada from him and FOKT Alicia who presently handles much of the representation for Jack Mershon, another local star.

"I would consider the feijoada a bribe," one critic cynically lamented. Others were more realistic: "Given the success of Jack Mershon's career and the close relationship Kay Taylor's parents have with Michael and Alicia, it's difficult to see another person being considered to handle the press duties."

The Bean Patch did secure two photos of the event. In one photo, it would appear Michael was enjoying cozying up to the new star, and, in another picture, it seems Kay Taylor and her parents were all smiles as the interview concluded.

Kay Taylor Begins Career with Private Photo Shoots

After a busy series of publicity shots and private interviews, Kay Taylor (a.k.a. the Jellybean) managed to catch a few minutes of shut-eye with her co-agent and father. Since leaving the hospital on Sunday, Kay Taylor has met with her career coach, Dr. Van Vleck, who pronounced her debut a success and began the complicated job of making her career equally successful. She has also participated in several photo shoots with family members. After settling in to her new bachelorette pad in Washington, DC this week, she will begin to expand her meetings to others in the area. According to an anonymous insider, right now her career is mostly about eating sleeping and relieving herself.

Jellybean Debuts, Fans Celebrate

A Star Is Born!

Amid fanfare befitting the most promising of young celebrities, the Jellybean debuted yesterday afternoon at 4:03pm at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Both of her co-agents were on the scene and Dr. Newman and RN Kamillah were chief in choreographing the specifics of the truly successful debut. The Jellybean looked ravishing in a white receiving blanket and pink-bowed cap as the scene quickly exploded in flash bulbs from assorted paparazzi and fans as she appeared. In a press release issued immediately after the debut, it was revealed the Jellybean is actually Katharine Taylor Louise Winthrop although she would be known to her fans as simply Kay Taylor.

One fashion maven commented from the scene: “I don’t know who swaddled that receiving blanket but she looks stunning. I’d say she must be about 20 inches long and roughly 6 pounds 10 ounces – an excellent example of how a young star should look.” Another fan from the scene: “I’m just so happy she’s here. I’m no Joan Collins but I think she looks beautiful.”

An industry insider praised the two co-agents this morning. “One could hardly ask for a smoother debut, especially from two novice agents like hers. Special credit goes to her mother/co-agent who really labored through the entire process. She did an outstanding job.”

The Bean Patch has secured photos of the event and will pass them on to our readers as they become ready for publication.

Breaking News

Jellybean's Co-Agents Arrive at Sibley, Debut Imminent

The Jellybean's co-agents hurriedly left their home this morning and headed to Sibley Memorial Hospital for what we can only suspect are last minute preparations for the Jellybean's debut. Stay tuned to the Bean Patch as news develops.

Thursday, November 22, 2007

"Business as Usual" as Waiting Continues

Although prepared for a debut at any time, most of the Jellybean's insiders decided to return to their normal routine for the Thanksgiving holiday. One insider: "For the holiday, it was 'business as usual' so to speak for those at Camp Jellybean. Most everyone returned to their plans from previous Thanksgivings." In that vein, the Jellybean's co-agents spent the morning in Olney, MD with her co-agent and mother's parents and then returned to Washington, DC for dinner with her other co-agent and father's parents. Reports are the food everywhere was delicious, and the co-agents returned home with full bellies for their continued preparations over the holiday weekend.

The Bean Patch wishes all its loyal readers all the best for a Happy Thanksgiving Weekend.

Fans Suspect Arrival But Jellybean's Still a No-Show

In one of the most exciting developments to date, the Jellybean's two co-agents hurriedly left the offices of her talent coaches this morning and headed directly to Sibley Memorial Hospital, the scheduled site of her debut. There, the two co-agents were met by a crowd of fans and paparazzi who erupted in cheers as the two entered the building. However, nearly two hours later the two co-agents left the building smiling but with no sign of the Jellybean yet again.

Reports have been leaked that Lightfoote (the Jellybean's primary talent coach) suggested the trip to Sibley after the Jellybean's mother and co-agent underwent a routine non-stress(ful) test this morning. Observations at Sibley included heart rates, fluid levels and general health checks. Presumably, there were other pre-debut preparations taking place during the visit. It is rumored several photos were also taken of the Jellybean although no photos have been released by her press department. After all tests were completed and a clean bill of health was issued, the co-agents decided to leave.

In related news, it was believed that among the discussions with the talent coaches this morning was prospect of petitioning an arbitrator to compel the Jellybean to arrive on Monday, November 26th if she has not debuted before that time. The Bean Patch will continue to investigate this story and report more as it is known.

Excitement Grows But Still No Sign of Jellybean

Anticipation continues to build as each day passes without sign of the Jellybean at her scheduled debut site. The Bean Patch has learned her co-agents have received several phone calls and e-mails from eager well-wishers while all at Camp Jellybean diligently await the young star. Consistent with their now weekly meetings, her parents/co-agents are scheduled to meet tomorrow morning at the offices of her talent coaches. While the talent of the Jellybean is the primary focus, there is speculation the Jellybean's mother will undergo a non-stress(ful) test to monitor her health as the demands of the young star's debut continue to weigh on the novice agent. The Bean Patch will continue to report as news develops.

Jellybean Doesn't Show as Scheduled Debut Date Passes

With winter beginning to arrive in DC, temperatures were low but spirits high yesterday as paparazzi and fans together collected outside Sibley Memorial Hospital expecting to be part of the debut of our beloved Jellybean. However, the day passed without so much as a sign of our young star, although many kept vigil knowing her debut would still be soon. "We're just here because we want to be part of history," one fan commented. Industry observers were more indifferent about the developments. "I've said before these 'debut dates' are targets, not appointments to be kept. We know from reports by the talent coaches, she's ready for debut, but it's impossible to tell when the Jellybean herself will be ready." The waiting continues.

In other news and in response to requests by our readers, the Bean Patch has obtained several photos of the Jellybean's DC bachelorette pad. Reports are that the firm of JLSW/DSS Decorators were responsible for the design, and Tom & Dudley Contractors were tasked with bringing the design into reality. Both firms have clearly outdone themselves in making a room fitting of such a high-style celebrity as the Jellybean.

After Meeting with Talent Coaches, Debut Described as "Soon"

Fans gathered outside the offices of the Jellybean's talent coaches this morning as her co-agents once again arrived for their weekly meeting. Although some carried signs reading "we love you Jellybean," the co-agents entered and exited the office with no sign of the young star. In an uncharacteristic pause to meet with the media, the Jellybean's father/co-agent described the meeting as "good" and indicated the talent coaches suggested the debut would be "soon." He then reminded the crowd of this Saturday's scheduled debut date.

Industry observers were quick to point out, however, that debut dates were usually mere targets, and fans should not necessarily count on the Jellybean's debut occurring this weekend. "The number of stars who debut when they say they will is 5% or fewer," one observer commented. "I'd trust her father/co-agent that the debut is 'soon,' but beyond that, it's anyone's guess." Regardless of when exactly, it's clear anticipation continues to grow.

For Jellybean Insiders, Preparations (and Waiting) Continue

As another day passes without the Jellybean making her debut, her inside circle continues to step up their preparations for the big day. One industry observer: "In some ways, you can't fully prepare for everything. A debut is reasonably unpredictable -- you don't know how the debut will play out or how the public will receive a young star. I think her parents/co-agents are probably going through their to-do list over and over again."

As enthusiasm grows, experts have warned that, while most believe the debut is imminent, it could be still a week or so of waiting. Undeterred, several members of the paparazzi have begun to collect at Sibley Memorial Hospital where the debut is expected to take place. The Bean Patch learned Sibley is the same location the Jellybean's father made his (much less heralded) debut over 35 years ago.

No News as Debut Date Draws Near

While many have come to believe the Jellybean might debut early, another weekend passed with our young star still unseen by her adoring public. The Jellybean did have her weekly meeting with her talent coaches on Friday and, once again, was given glowing marks on her development. One talent coach did remark the Jellybean was certainly "ready" to debut at any time now -- a comment which only helped fuel rumors of a debut over this past weekend. According to unnamed sources, the Jellybean will again meet with her talent coaches this coming Thursday.

In other news, the Jellybean's mother, who was juggling two jobs since taking on the job as her co-agent, finally began an extended leave from her other job to focus exclusively on the Jellybean's imminent debut. More news to follow as it develops.

Jellybean's Talent Grows, Co-Agent Says

"The Jellybean's talent is growing everyday," her mother and co-agent announced this morning at an interview with reporters. However, it would appear from a photo snapped immediately following this session that the Jellybean's mother is growing as well. Many were quick to defend the growing waistline: "Career launches are very stressful on agents and I can't imagine what's it's like on the mother of a star as well. It's not unusual for a person in her position to be having difficulty sleeping, be eating more, and be feeling a great deal more pressure. I personally think the Jellybean's mother and co-agent looks great." Other comments were even more pointed: "We're awaiting a star's debut here, people. Why are we talking about her agent? What we need is pictures of the Jellybean. Her debut could be any day now. Let's focus on what's important."

On a related note, reports have surfaced the Jellybean's DC bachelorette pad was nearing completion. The Bean Patch will stay on top of the story and attempt to get pictures out to you, our loyal readers, as quickly as possible.

Jellybean Celebrates Boston "Bean" on Verge of Debut

Only weeks before her own scheduled debut, the Jellybean's press department released news of the imminent debut of another star in Boston, Massachusetts. Many have assumed this star -- who coincidentally has been described with the similar moniker "the Bean" -- might be a potential competitor with our beloved Jellybean. "Let's be honest; there is room for only so many 'beans' out there," one critic remarked earlier this year. However, the Jellybean's press department emphasized there were no such competitive feelings between these two "beans" and that the Jellybean herself was excitedly following the developments in Boston with rapt attention.

"We here at Camp Jellybean are ecstatic about this new starlet in the Boston area and feel any suggestion of competition between us and 'the Bean' is completely ridiculous. DC and Boston are 400 miles apart; there's plenty of room for both these stars to prosper. We wish the best to all those involved with this career launch and hope these two 'beans' will be friends, co-stars and partners in two highly successful careers." With this debut happening in the next twenty-four hours, it would appear Boston is truly living up to the name "Beantown."

Again Jellybean Meets Talent Coaches, Progress Good

As her debut draws closer, the Jellybean again met with her talent coaches this morning for their (now) weekly evaluation of her progress. Although the meeting was confidential, rumors have surfaced the star got another glowing assessment. In fact, it appears earlier concerns of her co-agents' anxiety (and subsequent higher blood pressure) were exaggerated, as both agents appeared to leave the office looking comfortable and relaxed.

However, there was still no sign of the Jellybean herself. Frustrated paparazzi lined the streets outside the talents coaches' office but were again left without any photos of the young starlet. There was some excitement when a crazed woman was escorted away from the office by security as the Jellybean's co-agents left the building. "She's in there! I'm telling you people she's in there!" the woman shouted as she waved and pointed in the direction of the Jellybean's co-agents and the building's exit. Still, though many waited, the young star never emerged.

Former Jellybean Critic Withdraws Criticism, Supports Star

As public excitement builds around the Jellybean's ensuing debut, one of her few detractors, an industry insider named Phil Turm, made a significant reversal early Saturday morning. "Some stars speed up their schedule and end up debuting to the public prematurely," Turm announced in a prepared statement. "Last week when rumors surfaced the Jellybean might move her date up, I was worried she too might debut prematurely. However, as of this morning, I want to officially retract any criticisms I may have made and announce my confidence that the Jellybean has had a full and complete development process from an industry standpoint."

This critic's comments mark a somewhat ersatz accomplishment for those associated with the Jellybean. Many big stars have debuted "early" according to industry norms and had stunningly successful careers. In fact, a recent study indicated that nearly one in eight stars make a premature debut; still, those in Camp Jellybean were happy with the news. A spokesman: "we're excited Turm is satisfied, but we're now looking forward to a successful debut."

Rumors Surface Jellybean's Debut Could Be Early

Reports emerged yesterday that the Jellybean may, in fact, speed up her debut date although it appears no firm plans have been made. The Jellybean and her co-agents met with her talent coach yesterday and were told her career development may be progressing ahead of schedule. Lightfoote, the Jellybean's respected talent coach, was also cautious about monitoring the blood pressure of her co-agents (particularly the Jellybean's mother) as some agents find their blood pressure rises dramatically before a star's debut.

Reaction was swift. "There's no need to be worried about anything," one commentator remarked. "This process is pretty routine, but you want to be careful with a career launch such as this." Several experts also commented that young stars often can appear to be ready for their debut early but remain on their original timetable. "Whether the debut happens today, tomorrow or four weeks from now, it's important to be prepared and these people seem prepared." Regardless of the schedule, the Jellybean's adoring public is eagerly awaiting her arrival.

Jellybean's Agents' Attendance of Classes Generates Controversy

As the Jellybean's debut date draws near, reports surfaced over the weekend that her co-agents were observed attending several classes over the past several weeks in preparation for her big day. Critics immediately suggested attendance of these classes showed the Jellybean's agents might be ill-prepared for representing a star of her stature, but others were quick to suggest otherwise. One entertainment pundit strongly defended their actions: "We all know the Jellybean's agents are new to this, but attending a few classes is simply the sign of a group who wants to be prepared. No matter how many marathons you run, you have to train for each one. I'd be critical if they weren't taking classes and preparing themselves. Their actions should be praised, not criticized."

The specifics of these classes were not released to the public but rumors are that one centered on the labor associated with delivering a star to the public and included a walk-through of how the Jellybean's debut will take place. Another class concentrated more on nursing the Jellybean's career once the debut has happened. The Bean Patch will continue to investigate.

Jellybean Hires Career Coach, Agents Say

In a press conference last night, the Jellybean's co-agents announced they had retained a new career coach for the Jellybean. This new coach, a highly-regarded woman named Van Vleck, works out of an organization called Spring Valley Pediatrics. The Jellybean's father and co-agent praised the organization and revealed he had spent much of his early years working closely with this same group. "I know my career was never as promising as the Jellybean's, but I spent my youth with this same group of career coaches and had a very positive experience. If they were good enough for me, they will do a fine job for the Jellybean."

Both co-agents emphasized this new hiring had nothing to do with the ongoing relationship with the Jellybean's talent coaches. "Talent coaching and career coaching are two very different areas of expertise," our industry observer commented. "Lightfoote and her partners [the Jellybean's current talent coaches] are critical to this star's debut. Still, after the debut is done, you'll see their role transition to advising more the Jellybean's agents and less the Jellybean herself. In particular, I expect the Jellybean's co-agent/mother to have an ongoing relationship with Lightfoote." Regardless of how the specifics work out, it is clear the Jellybean continues to amass a formidable group of advisors.

More Pre-launch Party Photos Released

A day after reporting on the Jellybean's pre-launch celebration, more photos from the party hit the internet this morning. These exclusive insider photos were courtesy of HPJ Photography Ltd and not AKJ Photograhy as originally reported. HPJ is a renowned DC area photographer who has contributed pictures of local DC talent to several other publications and the Bean Patch considers itself lucky to have HPJ part of its team.

As you can see from these newest photos, AKJ-MSC Designs appears to have outdone themselves in the party preparation. With the added publicity of throwing such a well-received event for the Jellybean, we are sure they will be called on for many more high-society functions in the future. All intereviewed guests agreed the event was a complete success.

Jellybean's Inner Circle Celebrates at Pre-launch Party

As the Jellybean's debut date draws near, many in her inner circle broke from their preparations to convene at an elegant pre-launch party thrown by AKJ-MSC Designs in suburban DC on Sunday. Several of the paparazzi were stationed outside the party snapping photos as guests arrived, but the Bean Patch was able to obtain exclusive photos from inside the party courtesy of AKJ Photography. Yet again, the Jellybean herself seems to have avoided any photos and there were conflicting reports whether she was actually at the party at all.

Although celebration was the primary purpose of the get together, guests inevitably spent much of their time discussing the Jellybean's health, exercise regimen and, of course,
fashion. Several guests arrived with prospective outfits for the Jellybean and the Jellybean's mother/co-agent quickly became the center of the party as she went through examining closely all of the guests' excellent suggestions for the Jellybean. With advisors like these, it's clear the Jellybean will be at the center of the DC fashion scene.

On a related note, the Jellybean's father and other co-agent was spotted hosting another local star, J. J. Mershon. Jack (as he is known by his close friends) spent much of the afternoon inspecting the Jellybean's residence and pointing out particularly dangerous items around the house which needed attention. After the visit, Jack could not be reached for comment but appeared excited at the prospect of a new star on the DC scene. Clearly, he is not alone in his enthusiasm.

Amid Cover-up Accusations, Bean Patch Celebrates Their Own

After several weeks of hiatus and numerous accusations of cover-ups, the Bean Patch again returned to the reporting scene this morning. The editor-in-chief commented last night: "The Bean Patch needs to take vacations. That's all this was. Any accusations of impropriety by this publication or any of our reporters are completely ridiculous."

The Bean Patch did confirm that part of their break was taken up in observing the passing of one of their premier contributors. On September 29th, highly lauded cultural observer Ajax apparently passed away at his home in Washington, DC. Ajax was always known as the silent, cerebral type and generally contributed to stories ranging from environmental and nature issues to occasional reports on food, exercise and sleep matters. He has made several special reports on canine medical issues and was a fellow at the ASPCA specializing in the protection of (rubber?) ducks. One of his more whimsical reports came on an in-depth exploration of the manufacture of facial tissues.

"The Bean Patch lost a true friend last week," the editor-in-chief remarked last night. "Ajax will be truly missed by all of us - readers and reporters alike. Still, the greatest tribute to him is for us to continue to report the news accurately and fairly. We've got a star's debut on which to report. Let's get back to work." Indeed, a host of Jellybean fans eagerly await.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Bean Patch Editorial Department:

This is getting a little ridiculous. I understand you're busy people, but this is just way too long without any information about our favorite star. I understand that often "no news is good news", but we fans need more information! Anything would be helpful.

On behalf of the growing number of Jellybean fans out there, please re-task your tireless team of reporters and let us know what's happening.

With appreciation,
A Frustrated Fan

Jellybean's "Ride" Inspected, May Appear in MTV Show

Publicists for the hit MTV show Pimp My Ride today intimated they were in talks with the Jellybean to star in an upcoming episode of the show. Nothing appears to be finalized, but there were reports the Jellybean's new "ride" was spotted being inspected by producers behind a police station in Washington, DC. The Jellybean herself did not appear to be present, but her parents/co-agents seemed intently engaged with the show's representative.

Still, industry observers were pessimistic a deal could be struck. "Given Britney Spears disastrous appearance this past week on MTV, I seriously doubt the Jellybean's advisors are going to elect to have her appear on the network," one pundit noted. "It just doesn't convey the message they want. The Jellybean wants to appeal to fans of all ages, and MTV is too focused on a younger age group." Still, it's smart to explore options. After all, you don't need to be a star like the Jellybean to go through the inspection process; any person (regardless of DC residency) can take advantage of the opportunity. "I have no comment other than to say it was a great meeting," the Jellybean's father/co-agent said on leaving. "I'd encourage people to drop by and see whether it's something they might like to do."

Jellybean Excited as Rumors of New Star in Baltimore Surface

Over this past Labor Day weekend, rumors surfaced that the Jellybean will not be the only big area debut over the course of the next twelve months. The Bean Patch has credible reports a new budding star (who has yet to be named or secure representation) will also debut next spring in Baltimore. There are few specifics but industry reaction was swift. "It was only a matter of time before more stars arrived in this market. With the Jellybean's early success, it would be more surprising if others didn't follow," one industry observer commented.

Still, others in the industry believe this news may not be entirely unconnected to the Jellybean's group of insiders and believe some of her own team may be associated with this new career launch. In fact, some believe there may be an indirect familial connection between the two stars, though details are sketchy. A source close to the Jellybean speaking on the condition of anonymity indicated, "I don't want to confirm or deny any rumors out there, but I'd say we at Camp Jellybean are excited about the prospect of another star on the scene." When asked whether this new star might be related to the Jellybean, our source responded slyly, "I'm refusing to comment because in this case it's best to keep secrets secret." (Or was that "...be cousin this case..."?) The Bean Patch will continue to investigate.

Anonymous Photo Released, Sparks Debate

In a surprising and curious development yesterday, the Bean Patch received an unmarked package marked on front with simply "Jellybean" and containing the attached picture. The photo appears to be of an unidentified woman's torso. Our own photo experts have carefully analyzed the photo and conclude it's impossible for the person pictured to be the Jellybean herself; still, they caution jumping to conclusions too quickly. It's clear the package was sent for a reason.

One celebrity sleuth, who has come under fire recently as somewhat of a conspiracy theorist, had a different assessment. "There's something fishy here. We haven't seen any photos of the Jellybean and suddenly we get this photo. I think there's more to this than we think. It's just a hunch, but I think the Jellybean's in that picture somewhere." His comments were quickly dismissed. "She's in the picture somewhere?" a senior photo analyst remarked. "Where? I think we should leave the picture analysis to the experts. There's one person in the photo and from an age standpoint, there's no way that's the Jellybean." If nothing else, the photo is sure to spark conversation from water coolers to professional media pundits.

Jellybean's Mother/Co-Agent: She's "Going to be Huge"

In some of the most candid comments to date, the Jellybean's mother/co-agent gave her own new optimistic evaluation of the young star and her fall debut. "Unlike other advisors to the Jellybean, I feel I truly carry the weight of this young star's budding career," she told her interviewer. "I know her talent coaches have said she's progressing as she should be - and I don't pretend to be as knowledgeable about these things as I know they are - but, in my opinion, I have a feeling the Jellybean's going to be huge."

Other industry observers were more guarded in their evaluation. "Obviously, I haven't met or advised the Jellybean," one observer remarked, "but I think it's natural for a mother to think her daughter's career is going to be big. After all, as enthusiasm concerning the Jellybean's debut grows, her mother (and in this case her co-agent) will certainly feel building pressure. She is under the spotlight as well, and the gravity of the Jellybean's promising career is on her shoulders. In fact, I've heard some agents even become nauseous in anticipation of a client's debut." The Jellybean's mother/agent responded. "I'm a professional and have not been nauseous or anything like that. Sure, I've had some trouble sleeping recently, but I think that's understandable for anyone involved in a career launch like this." On a related note, the Jellybean's father and other co-agent reports to be sleeping fine.

Fans Disappointed as Local Stars Traded to New York

Although expected for some months, this week witnessed the inevitable trade of two local budding talents - brother and sister team Greta and Lincoln Merrill - to an established franchise near New York City. "It's the nature of the business," one local commentator added. "You get really attached to these local celebrities, and then you find them whisked away to a new city. It often leaves a tangible void behind."

Some have inferred the Merrills' departure may somehow be related to the Jellybean's imminent arrival later this year, but industry observers deny it. "Completely unrelated" was the assessment. "D.C. would definitely be big enough for all three of them, but sometimes change is necessary. We hate to see them go, but often talented people are going to be more successful playing on a new team which can really showcase their talents. We wish them the best." Although packed and departing later this week, the Bean Patch feels confident this is hardly the last we've heard of Greta and Lincoln.

Jellybean's Agents Dodge Paparazzi Citing "Weather Problems"

Reports of the Jellybean's attending a wedding in Seattle this past weekend were quickly picked up by the paparazzi, and several east coast airports were swarmed with rabid photographers trying to catch a photo of the young starlet. The strategy was to track the Jellybean's two parents/agents in the hope that where they were, the Jellybean would not be too far behind.

However, it appears her agents are not as verdant as they may appear. In an unexpected move, the Jellybean's father got off his plane bound from Portland, ME to Philadelphia and returned to the site of several "Jellybean Summits" in Maine, while her mother spent several hours in another plane on the runway in Philadelphia trying to give the paparazzi the slip. The result: another failed attempt to catch our young celebrity on film. Though both agents deny any ruse taking place and instead cite "weather problems", industry insiders are unconvinced. "There's a line of photographers at the airport, and then they magically have plane troubles," one insider remarked. "Let's be serious, folks. This is clearly part of a strategy to keep the Jellybean off the front page." At least for now, it appears to have worked.

Bean Patch Updates Look, Stresses Continuity

In a bold redesign of its layout, the Bean Patch introduced a new look to its readers this morning. At a black-tie unveiling party last night, the editor-in-chief beamed with pride. "The Bean Patch is the preeminent source for all things Jellybean, and it's time our publication reflected the modern, fashionable look which people have come to expect from the Jellybean herself." When asked whether there would be other changes, he added, "we will continue to bring our readers the same professionalism that has always been associated with the Bean Patch. We're new and improved, but readers should feel confident we will continue to deliver the same personal touch they've come to expect."

Rumors of Jellybean Debut Date Emerge as Advisors Again Meet

On the heels of a weekend of shopping and another positive career evaluation from her hired team of talent coaches, the Jellybean again headed north to Maine last week for what was nicknamed "Jellybean Summit Two." As one might expect, the substance of the meetings between the Jellybean, her agents and assorted other advisors has been kept closely guarded, but the Bean Patch has learned through credible reports that the group did set November 17th of this year as a tentative date for the star's debut to the public.

"If you think that date's firm, you're fooling yourself," says one industry insider. "Stars like the Jellybean like to keep her public guessing. She wants to give her fans a date to which they can look forward, but, in my experience, young stars rarely keep to that kind of schedule." One fan substantiated those comments. "I don't care when she arrives as long as it's soon. For right now, I'm just circling November 17th on my calendar and hoping for the best."

Again Jellybean Meets Coaches, Begins Shopping

Sometimes a certain amount of mundane repetition can be a good thing. On Friday, the Jellybean again met with her talent coaches, and, once again, they pronounced her career as progressing well. "Regular contact with talent coaches helps ensure a career fully realizes its potential," says the Bean Patch's entertainment correspondent. "I won't say it's never been done, but it certainly is difficult to launch a career successfully without top-flight talent coaches to really guide you through the whole process. The Jellybean has some of the best."

Armed with this new positive evaluation, the Jellybean continued to settle herself down in the DC area. While eyewitness accounts are scarce, credible reports have surfaced that she spent most of the past weekend furniture shopping. From what we have learned, purchases seem to have centered on a bed and other assorted bedroom furniture. "Don't get the wrong idea," one insider warned. "She may be looking for a place to lay her head, but I don't think she'll be having too many restful nights once she makes her debut."

Jellybean Creates Group, Condemns Drinking Excessively

In papers filed today, the Jellybean's media gurus announced a new organization to promote drinking responsibility and drinking in moderation. In a nod to the more famously named organizations centered around drunk driving, the Jellybean's agents introduced B.A.D.D. - Beans Against Debaucherous Drinking. Reaction was swift. "I think it's a great idea. B.A.D.D.'s goals aren't too lofty. She's not out to save the world, but she shows she cares about something and that brings the public closer to her."

In a surprising display of solidarity, the Jellybean's mother and co-agent announced at the press conference this morning that she would give up drinking altogether for the next year to help promote this new organization. "That was a bit of a surprise," the Bean Patch's reporter on the scene said. "But, I'll tell you this. There's nothing stronger than someone standing up and saying 'this is something in which I believe' and then showing support by doing something." The Jellybean's father and other co-agent made no similar statement.

Source Contends Jellybean "On the Move"

An anonymous source with inside information on the Jellybean commented yesterday that, while the young star is rarely seen by her adoring public, she is regularly on the move. "I don't know what to say. This girl is moving around morning, noon and night." The source did emphasize there was nothing suspicious or opprobrious about the Jellybean's actions. "Some may think a young star like the Jellybean is up to no good if she's constantly on the move, but she's not. She's simply working and training for her big debut and should be considered the perfect role model for any young lady."

One industry insider: "Of course she's on the move! You know what happens if you sit back and let the world come to you? Nothing. This girl has a career to worry about and lying around doing nothing isn't going to get her anywhere." Does this increased activity mean more photos are coming? Don't count on it, the insider says. "She's been dodging the paparazzi for months. I doubt she's going to slip up and let them get a photo now."

Fans Starved for News as Jellybean Insiders Meet

"I can't live this way with so little news about her. I need to know more!" one fan pleaded at a recent get-together of concerned Jellybean fans. It's been two weeks since we've heard information about the young starlet, but it has come to the Bean Patch's attention that things are far from quiet within the Jellybean's inner circle.

Credible information has surfaced that several of the Jellybean's closest advisors - including her parents (now acting as her agents) - met at a secluded location in Maine last week to map out much of the Jellybean's event schedule for the coming months. As fan interest grows, it's critical to have every part of our favorite star's career work according to a well-laid plan.

"Do you remember that kid last year with the funny name?" an industry insider asked rhetorically. "Of course, you don't. That's what happens when you don't plan these things out. The kid generates all this interest and then disappears into the annals of one-hit wonders. The Jellybean's group may be slow in letting information out, but they're being deliberate and that will pay dividends." Let's hope her fans continue to be patient.

Correction

It has come to the attention of the editorial staff here at the Bean Patch that yesterday we erroneously reported that the Jellybean's talent coaches also advised budding star, Kylie Jaconi Hawe. This apparently was inaccurate.

We at the Bean Patch value you, our readers, and appreciate your confidence that our stories are well-researched and accurate. We apologize for the error and will take appropriate discplinary action against the reporter responsible for the error.

The Jellybean's father/agent issued the following comment: "We here at 'Camp Jellybean' know what it's like to be juggling many things at once. Let's all cut this tireless reporter a little slack. After all, I think he meant well."

Talent Coach Says Jellybean's Career "On Track"

As the country celebrated its independence this past week, the Jellybean seemed to enjoy her own independence in the form of a brief respite from the public's prying eyes. Still, her budding career was never far from the minds of those in the star's inner circle.

On the heels of selecting her parents as her primary agents and publicists, the Jellybean also met with her primary career and talent coach this past week. Though reports are sketchy, the Bean Patch believes this advisor is a top-flight D.C. native named Lightfoote. Those close to the Jellybean are keeping much about her inner circle away from the media, but it is believed Lightfoote is a personal friend of the Jellybean's father from his high school and grade school days and is held in high regard by all of the Jellybean's closest advisors. Lightfoote is also part of a team of talent coaches which has recently helped launch the careers of several other popular D.C. area celebrities, including Jack Jennings Mershon and Kylie Jaconi Hawe.

Initial reports from the meeting were that Lightfoote pronounced everything was going "according to plan" and the Jellybean's career was "on track" and right where it should be.

Jellybean Sparks Controversy with Choice of Agents

The Jellybean returned from a weekend getaway and quickly put an end to the growing speculation about who would represent the budding star to the increasingly curious media. Although many expected she would select an established agency with diverse client backgrounds, the Jellybean instead went in a direction which has become increasingly common with young celebrities; she picked her parents – Jennifer and Dudley - as her primary representation.

"I don't necessarily agree with it," the Bean Patch's industry insider commented, "but I can see the logic. Keep it in the family with people who will be motivated to always represent you in the best possible light while protecting your interests and not those of other clients." The downside: are the parents involved just to vicariously experience the child star's fame? Through a spokesman, the Jellybean responded. "My parents are good people and have diverse talents on which I can draw. I don't think there will be any problems. After all, in our family, the three of us definitely know who the real star is."

Jellybean Escapes D.C., Seeks Representation

After what one could only describe as a tumultuous week, the Jellybean departed D.C. for the weekend and headed to an undisclosed family retreat away from the city. Still, most assume relaxation is likely not in the cards for this new focus of everyone's attention. As those close to young star continue to reel from back-to-back days of unauthorized photos being leaked on the internet, it has become evident that eschewing the public eye is no longer a realistic prospect for this budding talent.

The Bean Patch learned today that two of the country's top celebrity agents have already contacted the Jellybean and asked if they could provide representation. One industry insider suggested more suitors would likely come forward and described the prospect of representing the Jellybean as a "no-brainer" adding "at this point, I can't think of a bigger feather in any agent's cap than saying they had the Jellybean as a client." Our insider expects a decision soon and describes the sudden need for a vacation as "no coincidence."

Exposed: Graphic Photos Show Jellybean's a "She"

"Is there no end to the invasion of privacy!" one disgruntled fan shouted as he stormed from a makeshift rally for the Jellybean early this morning. Unfortunately, it appears the damage has already been done, as a second set of Jellybean photos were posted this morning on an underground celebrity gossip site. The posting comes just one day after a few out-of-date photos were leaked to the media.

Although the Jellybean has gone to great lengths to protect all aspects of her identity, these more graphic photos released today confirm that the Jellybean is, in fact, a young girl in hiding. Again, through a spokesman, the Jellybean seemed surprisingly unfazed by the recent developments: "She's a proud young modern American girl. She's not ashamed of the photos, nor should she be. I certainly think she would have preferred to have the pictures taken on her terms, but she feels they're surprisingly tasteful and artistic."

Another anonymous source close to the Jellybean was less forgiving. "The photos were unauthorized and should not be viewed as a harbinger of further information about her identity being released any time soon." The source did confirm that Jellybean was, in fact, a young lady, but again emphasized no further comments would be made at this time. "I think you vultures have learned enough for one day," the source barked at the end of the interview.

Early Jellybean Photos Released

Less than a day after the Bean Patch’s first letter to its readers, the internet was rocked by the distribution of a series of grainy photos claiming to be the Jellybean. While debate immediately ensued as to the credibility of these photos, the Bean Patch has confirmed through independent sources that the photos are, in fact, of the Jellybean. Our experts date the photos as being at least two months old, and most likely an inaccurate representation of what the Jellybean looks like today; nevertheless, it will surely renew the paparazzi’s insatiable appetite to snap photos of our newest celebrity.

The Jellybean was not directly available for comment, but, through a spokesman, said, “I just want some peace and quiet for Pete’s sake. I don’t understand why people can’t just leave me well enough alone.” An anonymous fan further emphasized the need for privacy. “Sure, it’s the Jellybean,” the fan said, “but I think the Jellybean’s in hiding for a reason. We all just have to wait until the time is right.”

Prologue: and, in the beginning, there was blog...

Here in Washington, politicians regularly debate when life truly begins, but such polemics are best left to other times and places. For our readers here, we instead reflect on where the story of our yet-to-be-born child begins. Perhaps this, too, is not so easily answered. However, for the sake of the ethereal space which is the internet, our chronicle (and, hence, this blog) begins today - just shy of the halfway mark of "our" pregnancy.

As D.C. is the home of presidents, black tinted-windowed Suburbans and secret service agents, it should come as no surprise that we put great importance on protecting the identity of our newest and greatest familial treasure. In this vein, we shall refer to him/her in a classically "inside-the-beltway" manner: with the codename "Jellybean."

As friends have shown with their blogs, this diary will most likely grow in frequency and interest as our little one arrives and grows in size and activity, but for the time being, we introduce you to the newest member of our family at t-minus 20 weeks (give or take a few). We'll keep you posted as waistbands increase and restful nights decrease and, more importantly, as our great anticipation builds.

Let the presses roll! For so, our story now begins...
